Naming the Names of Deceivers, Troublemakers, and Apostates

Dr. Mike Johnston, Editor

Several years ago a Christian brother wrongly accused me of something he heard from someone else. When I asked him for the name of his source he almost fell on the sword in an effort to protect this liar’s identity.

Where did we ever get the notion there is virtue in protecting deceivers, troublemakers and apostates when the Bible makes it clear that they need to be exposed so others can avoid them?

Romans 16:17-18  Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.  (18)  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Ephesians 5:11  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Scripture warns that the last days will be filled with deceivers and apostates

Matthew 24:4-5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (5) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Naming Names of Deceivers, Trouble Makers, and Apostates

So how should we deal with these trouble-making deceivers and apostates? We need to name them as a warning to others so they will not be hoodwinked by them.

Hear me friend. Why do we think there is some kind of inherent virtue in protecting deceivers, trouble makers, and apostates? From the time Eve was deceived and Adam sinned, the Bible has always provided names so that God’s children can avoid falling into their heresy. (Read the long list of Israel’s godless and blasphemous kings- every one of them clearly named).

Luke named them:

Acts 13:6-8  And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:  (7)  Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.  (8)  But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Paul named them:

Philippians 4:2  I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

1Ti 1:20  Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

2Ti 1:15  This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

2Ti 2:17  And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus

2Ti 3:8  Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

2Ti 4:10  For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

2Ti 4:14  Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

Tit 1:12  One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

John named them:

3Jn 1:9  I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

Jude named them:

Jude 1:11  Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

The Lord Jesus named them:

Rev 2:20  Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

In that all of the above specifically named troublemakers, I believe we should as well.

Last Days Liars, Hypocrites, and Deceivers

By Dr. Mike Johnston

Why so many Christians assign virtue to protecting the identity of liars, hypocrites and deceivers is beyond me. My dear friend, isn’t it time we stood to contend for the faith (Jude 1:3) by opposing and naming the scurrilous scallywags wreaking havoc on the Lord’s church? Paul did (Rom. 16:17-18; Phil. 4:2; 1 Tim. 1:20; 2 Tim. 4:14); John did (3 John 1:9-10); Jude did (Jude 1:11); Christ did (Rev. 2:20); and so should we.

Lucifer’s Luminaries

Liars, hypocrites and deceivers claiming the fire of the Holy Spirit are in actuality deceitful workers (2 Cor. 11:13-14) who carry the torch for Lucifer. While many are ignoring the process, the fact remains that one day Satan will fulfill his dreams of being worshiped internationally as God (Isa. 14:12-14; Rev. 13:4). All who wisely refuse to be smitten by his power and wonders, deceived by his miracles, or to receive his mark in their right hand of forehead (Rev. 13:12-17)will of necessity be added to a criminal list scheduling them for termination via the  “final satanic solution”[1]And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed (Revelation 13:15).

Herein lies my contempt for liars, hypocrites and deceivers. Think how the demons must laugh at the Biblically ignorant being seduced to “Christian” events where signs and wonders are touted as proof of God’s power when they are nothing more than alluring stage props used by spirits of devils, working miracles (Rev. 16:14). Make no mistake dear saint of God, the fix is in. One day in the near future shall that Wicked be revealed . . . Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders (2 Thessalonians 2:8-9).

Deceivers and their Deceptions

Deception is the fruit of a seducing spirit teaching heresy as truth. The Bible warns this will be part of a sinister plot in the last days: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:1-2). My friend, these liars, hypocrites, and deceivers were all predicted in Scripture. To ignore them is foolish at best.

Christ warned: Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many . . . For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect  (Matthew 24:4-5, 24).

Paul warned: But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13).

Peter warned: But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction (2 Peter 2:1).

John warned: And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live (Revelation 13:14).

In spite of these stern warnings today’s socio-political and ecclesiastical climate has been glutted with greedy, unrepentant liars, hypocrites [2] and deceivers whose popularity seems to grow in proportion to their deceptions. The only answer for this wholesale stupidity comes from Martin Luther who often quipped Mundus vult Decipi which is Latin for “the world wants to be deceived.”

This brings us face to face with the woes of our wickedness as given by God’s prophet Isaiah: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him (Isaiah 5:20-23). Can we deny this applies to us both politically and religiously? Look around! If you need irrefutable proof, may I suggest you tune in to “Christian” television [3] where lying men and women claiming first century apostolic gifts practice the occult, promote covetousness, and literally make merchandise (2 Pet. 2:1-3) out of those poor souls willing to accept and support anything with the Jesus name tag attached to it. Seduction at its dead level best!

The Seduction of Christianity

Several years ago prolific author and researcher Dave Hunt issued the following challenge in his electrifying expose The Seduction of Christianity: “We must be able to distinguish the voice of Christ through His Word from the confusing mixture of truth and error that is spoken in His name.” This seems to be at the crux of our  delusion dilemma. Today we find the occult and sorcery being promoted and practiced in the church under the auspices of- believe it or not- “the baptism of the Holy Spirit.” [4] These include divination [5], positive confession/mind over matter, [6] covetousness[7], and the deification of man and the denigration of God. [8] It horrifies me to have to admit that we Christians have not only lost our ability to discern between the spirit of truth and the spirit of error (1 John 4:1), many now become livid with those of us who point it out in order to foster repentance. What a values paradox this has created.

Please hear me. All that is necessary for Satan’s lies to take root in your life is for you to reject God’s truth when it is presented.  Paul again warns: And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12). With this as our backdrop, allow me to introduce the infamous cast this tract was written to expose.

Healers who are Liars, hypocrites, deceivers

Let’s get a working definition for our terms from Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary of American English. Liars: (those to tell) a criminal falsehood; hypocrite: one who feigns to be what he is not; deceiver: one who deceives; one who leads into error; an imposter. While we sympathize with the following that were plagued by the maladies mentioned, we must remember they all either claimed to be healers or promoted the gift of healing, often blaming a person’s lack of faith for not being healed.

Healer Kathryn Kuhlman died of heart disease.Healer A.A. Allen died from alcohol abuse

Healer Aimee Semple McPherson died from an overdose of barbiturates.

Healer John Lake died of a stroke

Healer Gordon Lindsey died from a heart condition.

Healer R.W. Shambach who regularly told his gullible followers, “all you need is faith in God,” had a quadruple bypass before he died

Healer Kenneth Hagin’s sister died of cancer, Hagin’s wife who was operated on (Hagin himself wore glasses)
Healer TL Osborn’s wife Daisy died of cancer that she claimed was healed

Healer John Wimber and his son Chris both died of cancerHealer E.W. Kenyon died in a coma with a malignant tumor

Healer John Osteen sought medical help for his wife Dodie’s cancer

Healer Fred Price got chemotherapy for his wife

Healer Charles Capps’ Wife got medical treatment for her cancer, as did

Healing Faith Teachers:

Buddy Harrison Word-Faith publisher, died of cancer

Jamie Buckingham died of cancer

Joyce Meyer sought medical treatment for cancer

Sex Scoundrels who are Liars, hypocrites, deceivers

Sex scoundrel hypocrite Bob Jones of the Kansas City Prophets (KCP) ordered women to undress before receiving “word” from him. He is heralded as a gifted voice in today’s Latter Rain chaos. His KCP comrade Paul Cain along with Paul Crouch, Sr. and Ted Haggard who all thundered against homosexuals have been revealed as secret sodomites. “Healer/Revivalist” Todd Bentley a drunken deceiver, left his wife for his “ministry mistress” he fornicated with during the Lakeland, Florida “revival.” He’s back in “ministry ala Rick Joyner. Then there’s Jimmy Swaggart. For months this hypocrite excoriated Jim Bakker, only later to be caught kowtowing with hookers- not once but twice. While Swaggart made a pretense of crying (which he is good at) he apparently didn’t fool all of his supporters. After he defiantly refused counsel from his denomination who suggested he step down temporarily, he maintained control of his bedraggled “ministry” while losing the respect of his peers and millions in support. Last- but certainly not least- is the infamous Benny Hinn who was recently caught at a hotel with Paula White and was sued by his publisher for his inappropriate relationship.

Doctrines of Devils

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:1-2). For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect  (Mark 13:22). When Shirley MacLaine goes public with “I am God, I am God!” the church proclaims her a sign of the end times. Yet when well known “Christian” leaders say the same thing, we smile and applaud their heresies as new light. When are we going to wake up and try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world (1 John 4:1)?

Benny Hinn: “Are you ready for some revelation knowledge? You are God!” (“Our Position In Christ”, tape # AO31190-1). “You are a little god on earth running around”. (“Praise-a-thon” broadcast on TBN, November, 1990). [Hinn and Paula White recently caught emerging from hotel]John Avanzini: “[The Spirit of God] … declared in the earth today what the eternal purpose of God has been through the ages … that He is duplicating Himself in the earth” (John Avanzini, “The End Time Manifestation of the Sons of God,” Morris Cerullo World Evangelism tape).

Morris Cerullo: “You’re not looking at (me); you’re looking at God. You’re looking at Jesus.” (The End Time Manifestation of the Sons of God,” Morris Cerullo World Evangelism tape)

Kenneth Copeland: “Adam is God manifested in the flesh” (“Following the Faith of Abraham” tape # 01-3001 “You don’t have a god in you, you are one.” (The Force of Love tape).Paul Crouch: “Christians are little gods . . . I am a little god” (TBN-July 7, 1986). [this mini messiah is a sodomite]

Creflo Dollar: We are gods, in this earth, and it’s about time we start operating like gods instead of a bunch of mere powerless humans” (April 17, 2002 Changing your World, LeSea Broadcasting).

Kenneth Hagin, Sr: “You are as much the incarnation of God as Jesus Christ was…the believer is as much an incarnation as was Jesus of Nazareth”. (“Word Of Faith” Dec. 1980, p. 14).

Please, please, listen. These “mini messiah’s” appear nightly on “Christian” television bragging about “new moves” of God that are occultic and simply cannot be supported by Scripture. They are provably false prophets and teachers; deceptive, deadly, and dangerous. If you can’t see them for what they really are, it is because you too have been deceived by them (2 Cor. 11:3). Now you might try apologizing for them by saying: “Well you don’t understand them or what they mean.” Well, let’s cut to the chase with Someone who knows full well, Jesus: And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ . . . go ye not therefore after them (Luke 21:8). It’s time for us to try the spirits (1 John 4:1).

Pernicious Profiteering Prophets

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction . . . These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage (2 Peter 2:1, 17-19).

“God told me” is by implication an intimidating self aggrandizing statement. Pastor Jim Cymbala wrote: “I know that some unscrupulous preachers today claim that ‘the Lord told me’ when no such thing occurred . . .  such behavior is an abomination” (see Jer. 23:31-32, 38-39). Yet this has become a compelling component in Charismatic and Latter Rain circles today- especially when raising funds on their telethons. You can treat this however you want, but remember, Moses labeled it taking the name of the Lord thy God in vain (Ex. 20:7; see Prov. 30:9), and Paul called it speaking lies in hypocrisy (1 Tim. 4:2).

Here’s a short list of men who would be appearing in God’s obituary column- not on “Christian” television- if held to OT standards of flawless prophetic fulfillment (Deut. 13; 18): [9]

Kim Clement: prophesied a cure for AIDS by the year 2002 (12/26/2000 edition of Praise the Lord on TBN).

Kenneth Copeland: claimed America would be fully led by leaders following the Holy Ghost [10] during the Clinton presidency. Enough said. Copeland also predicted in a dedication service on 12/02/01 for the new 2000 seat Word of Life church auditorium in Honolulu, that one billion Muslims would be saved in the next few months.

Kenneth Hagin: (the late) lied that he received his teaching, not from any man, but directly from God. Yet, years later it was discovered to be plagiarized word for word in some places E.W. Kenyon.[11]

Benny Hinn: appears often on TBN claiming wonderful things the Lord is showing him: Fidel Castro would die in 1990s, and that God would destroy the homosexual community of America. [12] On a TBN praise-a-thon April 2, 2000, Hinn brashly stated the Lord told him He would begin appearing physically on the platform of his crusades.

Rod Parsley: Parsley, the hokey Hoosier handkerchief handler claimed in an April 1999 [13] mailing God spoke through him to the distraught mother of a drug addicted, AIDs infested, homosexual son she hadn’t seen in over 12 years- (Parsley’s speaking for God) “Anything you ask Me today, I will grant it.” She asked for her son to be saved, healed, and restored to his family. Parsley claimed in his newsletter that 3 months later the miracle was confirmed when the son called with the exciting news that her prayers were answered. Inner City Christian Discernment Ministry (ICCDM) became suspicious and requested verification NINE YEARS ago. Still nothing! What is Parsley hiding? Why won’t he provide this info, unless of course it is . . . mythical.

Oral Roberts: In 1977 Roberts said he had received a vision from God telling him to build the City of Faith. He later claimed to have seen a 900- foot-tall Jesus who told him that the vision would soon be realized and that the hospital would be a success. The City of Faith opened in 1981. He later closed it down for financial reasons. All of this info is in my booklet The New Age Charismatic Seed of Corruption.

Pat Robertson:[14]Consistently practices divination (word of knowledge) on the 700 Club. In 1982 and again in 1984, Robertson predicted the Tribulation would take place in those years. [15]January 2007 he predicted a terrorist attack on the US causing death and destruction equivalent to that of a nuclear war by the end of the year 2007 ( New Mytics

Redefining terms is often the difference between success and failure. [16] Until a few years ago, mystic [17]depicted occult overtures. It’s different now. Those who practice witchcraft are currently hyped to churches as spiritually gifted saints very much in tune with- and filled with- the Spirit of God. In my humble opinion, this has proven to be an absolutely brilliant Satanic strategy. The following activities- while unbelievable- are actual antics performed by neo-LRs in hundreds of churches for tens of thousands of fans. This is not a complete list of every deceiver practicing these things.

From Laughter, to Barking, to Drunkenness to emulating Drug Abuse via John Crowder and Benjamin Dunn Shamanism – (see our tract on Shamanism) Channeling Familiar Spirits via Todd Bentley, Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson Transportations, translations, bi-locations (astral projection) via John Crowder, Todd Bentley, Bob Jones
Divination (word of knowledge, prophecies, interpretation of tongues Necromancy via Benny Hinn, John Crowder, John A. Dowie Angelic visitations via Jones, Bentley, Hinn

Final Thought

I have in this tract warned you about things in the body of Christ you may not have been aware of. Now that you know, can you- in good faith- ever listen to or support the teachings of any of these liars, hypocrites and deceivers again- or worse remain silent in the presence of brothers and sisters that do?

Before you answer, please pray as you read this stern warning from the Holy Spirit:

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds (2 John 1:10-11). See also: Deut. 13:1-5; 18:20-22; Jer. 5:31; 14:14; 23:16, 32; Matt. 7:15-16; 24:11, 24; 2 Pet. 2:1; 1 John 4:1.

[1] Hitler’s anti-Semitic holocaust was called The Final Solution.

[2] Look at the in your face liberal hypocrites in congress who cheated on their tax returns with no penalties like Tom Daschle, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Charlie Rangel (Chairman of Ways and Means Committee), Congresswoman Nancy Killefer, and others while regular Christian citizens have been imprisoned for the same offense (ie, Dr. Kent Hovind).

[3] Anything with the Jesus Name Tag is now accepted without question. The more bizarre, the better- even though unbiblical.

[4] The Baptism of the Holy Spirit has nothing to do with the practice of spiritual gifts. Read 1 Cor. 12:13 and order our tract: The Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

[5] Divination is strictly forbidden (Deut. 18:10) and yet many churches and “Christian” television all ballyhoo this through prophetic utterances, words of knowledge and interpretation of tongues.

[6] The positive confession (aka word faith) movement made popular by occultists under the term Force or Universal Mind

[7] Prosperity gospel whereby you name it and claim it in “the name of Christ.”

[8] Not just New Agers. Hinn, Copeland, Hagin, Avanzini, Cerullo, and countless others are all claiming WE ARE GODS!

[9]There are hundreds of these failed prophecies I could have quoted. The fact is, they are constantly spewing forth in LR style churches worldwide.

Benny Hinn’s Hidden Heresies- David Stewart

Benny Hinn’s Hidden Heresies

by David J. Stewart

Benny Hinn is Extremely Deceptive!

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” -Matthew 7:15

Benny Hinn teaches that there are NINE members to the Godhead.  Hinn is very deceptive.  If you look at Benny Hinn’s website, you might be totally convinced that he’s a born again Christian.  Yet, Hinn’s life contradicts his statements.  If a famous preacher claimed to believe in freedom and America; but then you find out that he was a member of the Communist Party at the SAME time, what would you think?  That man is Martin Luther King Jr.   Would you believe his words about freedom?  No!  Likewise, Benny Hinn presents the Gospel on his website; but, then praises the Pope, recognizes Our Lady of Fatima (Mary) as legitimate, partakes of transubstantiation (Catholic holy communion), and promotes Catholicism–The biggest cult on earth!  And by the way, Hinn never actually states in his online Gospel presentation that a person doesn’t have to doworks to be saved.  And also, every Catholic believes the simple Gospel, i.e., that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again for our justification.  The church of Galatia in the Bible fell victim to the same type of heresy.  They had heard the simple Gospel; but, now were being led to follow a works salvation by a false religion, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel” (Galatians 1:6).  Benny Hinn fools multitudes of people by presenting the Biblical Gospel on his website; BUT, then promoting the damnable heresies and idols of Catholicism.  To promote Fatima (see below) is to promote the Catholic Virgin Mary.

There are many hidden heresies which Hinn’s website doesn’t mention.  There is a great evil in the religious world today, and it is very subtle.  The evil is that of preaching a TROJAN HORSE Gospel.  After ten years of trying to conquer the people of Troy, the Greeks devised a sneaky plan.  They left a giant horse, as a gift, outside the city gates of Troy, then retreated.  When the people of Troy saw the Greek armies leaving, they opened the door and brought the gift horse into the city.  That night, Greek soldiers, who were hidden inside the horse, overtook the people of Troy.  Troy was conquered!  Hence the term, “Never look a gift horse in the mouth.”  That horse wasn’t what it seemed.  What APPEARED to be a gift, was actually a trap.  Likewise, Benny Hinn’s doctrines are a trap.  He is preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, while simultaneously practicing and praising Catholicism (as you will see).  The net result is apostasy.

Benny Hinn Says Pope John Paul II Pointed Millions to Jesus!

Listen to what Hinn said concerning Pope John Paul II after his death, “Pope John Paul II pointed millions to Jesus Christ when he was Pope. And I believe we’re in for the greatest move of the Spirit of God on this planet.” -BENNY HINN (Benny Hinn: The Impact of the Pope’s Death, By Chris Mitchell, Middle East Bureau Chief,  What?  The Pope pointing people to Jesus?  Hinn is a false prophet!  Pope John Paul II pointed billions of people to MARY!!!  Pope John Paul II pointed people to himself, to the Catholic priests, to the Seven sacraments, to religion, to Mary; BUT, not to Jesus Christ.  You cannot point people to Jesus Christ while simultaneously teaching the traditions of men.  John 4:24 plainly teaches that God must be worshipped in TRUTH, not the traditions of men.  What a deception!!!  This is why Christ said in Mark 7:7…

“Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”

Benny Hinn Professes to be Catholic!

Hinn proudly stated, “My upbringing, of course, was Catholic in that I attended the Catholic school in Jaffa, Israel.  And so my mentality basically is a Catholic mentality.  When I was born again, I was Catholic in my ways.  I was very Catholic in my ideas, in my behavior.” (Christianity Today, Sept. 3, 1991.)

Benny Hinn Promotes Our Lady of Fatima

“Hinn appeared on the April 23 installment of Larry King Live. King challenged him as to why he doesn’t go from “bed to bed” in hospitals with his healing power. Hinn indicated that he does visit hospitals and when he prayed for people, there were some who were healed but others who were not. He then offered King this explanation as to his mixed results: “But, you see, the gift does not work when you want it to work. The anointing must be there.”

The driving force of his ministry then came to light as he told King: “In a crusade — in a meeting when I am ministering, the anointing of God comes on me and that’s when things happen.” Yet all of this begs the question: Why would the Holy Spirit limit Himself to work in power in only emotionally charged meetings? Hinn would have us believe that the anointing comes and goes but mostly comes in arenas and convention centers. Hinn’s concept takes issue with Scripture as 1 John 2:27 states: “The anointing which you have received from Him abides in you.”

Hinn then endorsed the reputed divine healing power of the Marian shrines at Lourdes and Fatima. He told King and the viewing audience: “Look, God has given us, Larry, many sources of healing. Look at Lourdes. People have been healed going to Lourdes and Fatima. There was a pool, even in the Bible, the pool of Bethesda, where the angels stirred the water — people were also healed. So God has given us many avenues of healing. He wants us to be healed.”

It is disturbing to see Hinn put these two extrabiblical shrines in the same category as a biblical event. It must also be noted that in the incident in John 5, the man was healed by Jesus (John 5:12-13) and Bethesda is never mentioned again after this chapter. (It is a dry archaeological ruin today.) Further, no one is ever pointed back to it for help or healing. In Acts 3 the man is not pointed to the pool (which was nearby) but to Christ (Acts 3:6). Whatever temporary mercy God had shown at Bethesda ended with the person of Christ. But the point must be made that there is a universe of distance between what Lourdes and Fatima are promoting and the Jewish pool of John 5. At the Pool of Bethesda, no one was being encouraged to hold to teachings contrary to God’s Word.

The message of both Lourdes and Fatima are messages supposedly from the Virgin Mary promoting veneration and prayers to her.” –SOURCE

Benny Hinn is bad news and should be avoided by everyone!  We read in 2nd Peter 2:1-3…

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.  And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”

Benny Hinn is a false prophet who is EXPLOITING the Gospel to promote ecumenicalism, i.e., unity between Catholics and Christians.  There is NO unity between a truly born again believer and the Great Whore of Roman Catholicism (2nd Corinthians 6:14-17).  Hinn is effectively confusing the multitudes because so many people are woefully ignorant of the Word of God.  I plead with you as a loving friend, and as a faithful Christian, to run away from Benny Hinn as fast as you can.

The Elect in Matthew 24: Jews or Gentiles?

Who are the elect that Jesus spoke of when He said “for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened”? Who are the elect to whom “false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders…”? Finally, who are the elect He spoke of when He said “Immediately after the tribulation of those days… he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other”? (Matt 24:22, 24, 29, 31)

The Calvinist doctrine teaches “the elect” means those who have been chosen to receive eternal life (they are saved). If “elect” = “saved” then the elect in Matthew 24 would necessarily be talking about believers in general. What we see, however, is that God repeatedly calls the Jews “the elect [ones (plural)]” in the Hebrew Scriptures and we likewise see , “the elect [ones (plural)]” in the New Testament is also a reference to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that is, the Jews. Consequently, Jesus’ reference to the elect in Matthew 24 is not speaking of the believers at large, but specifically of ethnic Israel (who believe). This conclusion is more thoroughly demonstrated in my complete paper and video “Why God Did Not Elect Calvinists,” or watch the video here. Furthermore, the gathering of the elect in Matthew 24 is not referring to Gentile believers before the tribulation but believing Jews after the tribulation. John Calvin plainly taught that election meant: “All are not created on equal terms, but some are preordained to eternal life, others to eternal damnation and, accordingly, as each has been created for one or other of these ends, we say that he has been predestinated to life or to death.” [1] Lest we think that is wrenching Calvin out of context, Calvinist Loraine Boettner clarifies: “The Doctrine of absolute Predestination of course logically holds that some are foreordained to death as truly as others are foreordained to life.” [2] The good news, however, is that “election, elect, chosen” (and the derivatives) are terms that have nothing to do with one’s eternal destiny. Scripture does speak at length of “the elect” and “the chosen” but these terms are devoid of the Calvinistic sense of someone who has been elected to receive eternal life. Conversely, the term elect and its derivatives are not salvific in meaning but simply refer to persons or things that are chosen for a particular purpose and the purpose has nothing to do with eternal life. Once the definition of the word is established biblically, the foundation of Calvinism will be undermined and will collapse and the true identity of the elect in Matthew 24 will come into view. The word elect (Greek verb: eklegomai ἐκλέγομαι; Hebrew verb: bakhar בָּחַר) means to choose, select. The elect or chosen (as nouns or adjectives) are those people or things that have been elected, selected, or chosen for a particular purpose by someone. For example, God chose Levi to minister forever “… the LORD your God hath chosen [bakhar בָּחַר Greek LXX eklexetai εκλεξηται]…” Deut 18:5 (see also 1 Chr 15:2). God and the people chose Saul to be the first king of Israel: “…behold the king whom you have chosen and whom ye have desired! And behold, the LORD hath set a king over you,” (1Sam 12:13). Saul’s election by God to be king had nothing to do with eternal life and his removal from being king likewise had nothing to do with eternal life. “Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king,” (1 Sam 15:23) – he was simply removed from his post. Judas is analogous to Saul in many ways because they were both elected for a purpose (not salvation, per se) yet they both forfeited their election.[3] God’s election of Messiah further demonstrates that the term elect/election is devoid of the Calvinistic concept of eternal life. “My Servant… Mine elect [בְּחִירִי bekhiri LXX: eklektos εκλεκτος] in whom My soul delighteth… (Isa 42:1, see also Isaiah 49:7). This title was used of Jesus on the cross “… ‘let Him save Himself if he be Christ, the chosen of God.’” (Luke 23:35 see also 1 Pet 2:4, 6). Jesus was unquestionably chosen, elected, predestined by God to be the Messiah but His election was not for His salvation; He was chosen by the Father to give us eternal life because he is the source of life! God also elected for Jerusalem to be His city and for His name to be there, (1 Kgs 8:44, 11:32, 36; 2 Chr 6:6; Ps 132:13). God chose the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. Jesus pointed out that the guests chose (eklegomai εκλέγομαι) the best seats, (Luke 14:8). Our conclusion from each of the examples is that election has nothing to do with predestination to eternal life. God chose priests, kings and Jerusalem for His purposes and man chose both God and idols. Again, we would be wrong to try to insert the concept of eternal life into the term election.

End Times False Prophets and Teachers- Can you spot them?

LTN NOTE: Warning! False prophets are becoming as common as barn flies. However, you’ll know them by their fruits. Peter warns us: 2 Peter 2:1-3  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.  (2)  And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.  (3)  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
